Mount Dora Women's Committee of Fine Arts

The Mission of the Women’s Committee of Fine Arts of Mount Dora is to encourage the appreciation of music, art, drama, and dance in our community.

History

From  1951 to 1981, local Kiwanis sponsored an annual Florida Symphony Orchestra show in Mount Dora, Florida.

From 1977 to 1981, some ladies of Kiwanis continued to host the symphony at Mount Dora Christian Home and Bible in the auditorium and formed the Women’s Committee of Fine Arts of Mount Dora.

In 2024, a resolution was put forth at their annual meeting to join forces with Mount Dora Center for the Arts in order to increase capacity and build strength and support for their efforts in the community. It was passed unanimously. In June 2024, MD WCFA will become an official committee working under the umbrella of Mount Dora Center for the Arts.

The committee will still host the annual event, the Christmas Tour of Homes to raise money for scholarships for local students seeking careers in Visual and Performing art.
