Classes at MDCA are held upstairs. There are no elevators. If you have mobility issues, consider an art class or workshop at one of our local art studios. We support accessible art for all.

Refund Policy: Registering for a class is a commitment. There are no prorations for classes missed in a series. Class Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.  Only Gift Certificates will be issued in lieu of approved cases.  Safety Policy: Masks may or may not be worn by students and instructors. Although social distancing will be encouraged when possible, there may be times when students and instructors will be in close proximity to each other. If you need special attention, let the instructor know.

Dragonfly Suncatchers

April 22 10AM -12PM Each student will create a whimsical stained glass dragonfly, with glass, beads and wire work. No experience needed, use of tools and all materials provided. Instructor: Rosemarie Brown. Cost: MDCA Members $55 Non-MDCA Members $85

Wonderful Watercolors

4 week class- Tuesdays from 1 PM to 3 PM May 7, May 14, May 21, and June 4 This class is designed for basic (with previous experience), intermediate/advanced watercolor painters. Learn color mixing, washes, and composition while painting different subjects in Watercolor. Please bring your own Watercolor supplies. A supply list will be posted on the website. Stained Glass Lampshade

Three Fridays : May 10,17,24 9AM - 2PM Intermediate level. Need to have taken a beginner class. Students will pick a pattern prior to class with help of instructor. Materials are purchased separately. Students will learn basic lamp construction. Instructor: Rosemarie Brown. Cost: MDCA Members $195 plus materials Non-MDCA Members $225

Solder Techniques

May 13 10AM -12PM Explore soldering and decorative solder techniques. Perfect class if you are struggling with nice solder lines or want to add texture to your pieces. Students are welcome to bring in a problem project to get back on track. We will work on improving techniques. Use of tools and materials included . Instructor: Rosemarie Brown. Stained Glass Succulents

May 20 9AM - 4PM Each student will learn how to assembly and solder techniques to construct a succulents. No experience needed. Instructor: Rosemarie Brown. Cost: MDCA Members $145 Non-MDCA Members $175

OIL Paint like Bob Ross

Dates TBD Certified Ross Instructor. Tanya Purdy will guide you in a step by step process using the Bob Ross wet on wet technique. Whether you've never painted before or are an experienced artist, this class provides a supportive and encouraging environment! Bring something to drink and snacks. Canvas size: 12x20. Basic Watercolor for Beginners & Intermediates

5 week session. Dates TBD. This class will explore color, composition, and watercolor techniques in this beginner and intermediate watercolor class. Each session is new and different so you are encouraged to take this class as often as you wish.  We will cover all the basics as we enjoy everything watercolor has to offer. All levels are welcome. especially newcomers to the medium. You are also encouraged to bring the supplies that you already have. Instructor: Susan Grogan $110 MDCA members $140 MDCA non-members

Exploring Watercolors - Int/Advanced

5 week session. Dates TBD. Learn to paint with the luminosity of watercolor and further your painting ability. Challenge yourself with new techniques as well as sharpening your skills in basic watercolor. This class will cover value, color mixing, composition, and design. Come explore new ideas and experiences! Students must be pre-approved by the instructor.  Instructor: Susan Grogan $110 MDCA members $140 MDCA non-member

LINE & WASH WATERCOLOR

2025 Dates coming soon. Finally, watercolor made simple! Line and Wash was once a popular method of creating a watercolor painting. Learn this old technique. On day 1 of this two-day workshop, gain confidence as Paul teaches you applications of watercolor with small exercises. Immediately apply what you have learned. On day 2, the painting shown will be created using the lessons from day 1. Paul will guide you through the process from the pencil block in and ink drawing to the finished painting. All materials will be supplied, but if you have your own and prefer them, please feel free. Instructor: Paul Allen Taylor $140 MDCA members $170 MDCA non members

Beginner Guitar

MDCA is excited to announce our Beginner Guitar course to expand your musical artistic abilities! Adult Dance Classes

Beginner Fusing

TBD One day workshop. No experience needed. Learn the very basics of fusing with System 96. This is a great way to get your feet wet. Each student will make various projects to experiment with different techniques. You will learn about materials, equipment, and process. Garden Stakes

Open Studio

Looking for space to be creative? We have the room for you Mon -Fri 9am-4pm This is an open studio area with no instruction. Tables for crafting and easels are available for use. Space is shared with other artists. Bring your own materials. $20 per day 9am-4pm / $50 per week (M-F 9am-4pm) / $150 per month

Virtual ZOOM Classes

MDCA partners with Arts4All Florida at USF to provide support and champion arts education and cultural experiences for and by people with disabilities. Classes are led by professional artists/art teachers, certified instructors, and disability experts. ZOOM classes are offered in visual, music, dance and movement and the performing arts to students and adults of all abilities.
