Classes at MDCA are held upstairs. There are no elevators. If you have mobility issues, consider an art class or workshop at one of our local art studios. We support accessible art for all.

OIL Paint like Bob Ross

"Golden Sunset" Dec 6th 12-4pm Certified Ross Instructor. Tanya Purdy will guide you in a step by step process using the Bob Ross wet on wet technique. Whether you've never painted before or are an experienced artist, this class provides a supportive and encouraging environment! Canvas size: 12x16. ALL SUPPLIES ARE INCLUDED EXCEPT PAPER TOWELS. $80 MDCA members / $110 Non MDCA members.

Watercolor ILLUSTRATION

4-5:30pm Dates available: Nov 25 / Dec 8 / Dec 22 Illustration is becoming more and more popular. Create beautiful images with delicate shades like seen in designer collections, interior design, on instagram, and in print. This course consists of different thematic classes: food, travel, fashion and botanical illustration. These are the most popular and vibrant topics in the illustration sphere. Watercolor Paint Along

Dec 11 1-2pm This is a one-day beginner paint along Christmas Tree workshop. Even if you're experienced, join us and have a fun day painting with new and old friends. Supplies are included! Instructor: Susan Grogan $45 MDCA Member / $75 Non MDCA Member

Basic Watercolor

6 week session Mondays 1-3pm. 1/22/24 - 2/26/24
This class will explore color, composition, and watercolor techniques in this beginner and intermediate watercolor class. Each session is new and different so you are encouraged to take this class as often as you wish.  We will cover all the basics as we enjoy everything watercolor has to offer. 6 week session Tuesdays 1-3:30pm. 1/23/24 - 2/27/24 Learn to paint with the luminosity of watercolor and further your painting ability. Challenge yourself with new techniques as well as sharpening your skills in basic watercolor. This class will cover value, color mixing, composition, and design. 2 DAY WORKSHOP, Jan 11 & 12, 2024 9:30am -4:30pm. Finally, watercolor made simple! Line and Wash was once a popular method of creating a watercolor painting. Learn this old technique. On day 1 of this two-day workshop, gain confidence as Paul teaches you applications of watercolor with small exercises. Immediately apply what you have learned. On day 2, the painting shown will be created using the lessons from day 1. Paul will guide you through the process from the pencil block in and ink drawing to the finished painting. Stained Glass Lantern

No Grout Mosaic

iPhone Photography

Tuesday Jan 9, 2024 1pm-4pm Instructor Paul Morris Take great photos every time with your iPhone. This hands-on seminar will show you the features and settings for your iPhone camera. Take a photo walk in downtown Mount Dora to explore the settings and options, then head back to class to learn how to enhance and share your pictures. Given that most smartphones have amazing features that most users don't even know about, this workshop will cover the following points: Hour 1 - In class, learn about camera setup and settings, what they are for and when to use them. How to make better videos with your smartphone. Hour 2 - Photo walk, using the options we learned in class we will go outside and take a short walk shooting photos along the way. Hour 3 - back in class we will go over enhancing your photos and sharing options. $55 MDCA members $80 MDCA non-member

Open Studio

Looking for space to be creative? We have the room for you Mon -Fri 9am-4pm This is an open studio area with no instruction. Tables for crafting and easels are available for use. Space is shared with other artists. Bring your own materials. $20 per day 9am-4pm / $50 per week (M-F 9am-4pm) / $150 per month

Virtual ZOOM Classes

MDCA partners with Arts4All Florida at USF to provide support and champion arts education and cultural experiences for and by people with disabilities. Classes are led by professional artists/art teachers, certified instructors, and disability experts. ZOOM classes are offered in visual, music, dance and movement and the performing arts to students and adults of all abilities.

Refund Policy: Registering for a class is a commitment. There are no prorations for classes missed in a series. Class Fees are NON-REFUNDABLE.  Only Gift Certificates will be issued in lieu of approved cases.  Safety Policy: Masks may or may not be worn by students and instructors. Although social distancing will be encouraged when possible, there may be times when students and instructors will be in close proximity to each other. If you need special attention, let the instructor know.
