Capoeira (Portuguese pronunciation: [kapu-eta]) is an Afro-Brazilian martial art and game that includes elements of dance, acrobatics, music and spirituality . Classes are 6pm - 6:30pm Monday and/or Wednesday. (Each session is 1 month) Individual rate 1x/week $65 or 2x/week $90 Family rate for immediate family members only 1x/week $80 or 2x/week $100 Location: Mount Dora Center for the Arts. 138 E. 5th Ave Mt. Digital Painting

Digital Painting

New dates TBD. This workshop is suitable for adults and is perfect for creative senior artists who have found themselves struggling with limited finger dexterity. The instructor will provide a solid foundation for beginner digital artists. No experience is needed, and all equipment will be provided. Class size is limited to four students. Beginner Stained Glass

Dates TBD. Learn the exciting craft of stained glass. Each student will learn all the basics and leave the studio with a finished project, having learned the skills to do a second project on their own! Use of tools and all materials included. Fused Glass Jewelry

Mosaic Picture Frame

Beginner Fusing

Dates TBD. One day workshop. No experience needed. Learn the very basics of fusing with System 96. This is a great way to get your feet wet. Each student will make various projects to experiment with different techniques. You will learn about materials, equipment, and process. Stained Glass Plate Panel

Painting

Drawing Concepts and Perspective

January 8-9, 2025 9:30-4:30 with a 1 hour lunch. Drawing does not come naturally to many people. To draw reasonably well, without having the knowledge or natural abilities, some training must occur. The key to good drawing is the result of a few simple concepts. Firstly, we draw Shapes not things. Second, one must see the perspective of the image such that all shapes lie on a single Picture Plane. And thirdly, understanding the concept of Eye Level. These basic concepts are integral to good drawing and visualization. You will come away from this class with tools to make your drawing and artwork better. Materials required: Pencils, (H, HB, B, 2B) eraser, 12 x 16 sketchbook, or pad, Eraser, 12” ruler, razor knife, 60 grit sandpaper or lighter. Basic Watercolor for Beginners & Intermediates

4 week session. Mondays 1pm-3:30pm on Jan 13, 20, 27, and Feb 10, 2025. This class will explore color, composition, and watercolor techniques in this beginner and intermediate watercolor class. Each session is new and different, so you are encouraged to take this class as often as you wish. We will cover all the basics as we enjoy everything watercolor has to offer. Exploring Watercolors - Int/Advanced

4 week session. Thursdays 1pm-3:30pm on Jan 9, 16, 23, and Feb 6. Learn to paint with the luminosity of watercolor and further your painting ability. Challenge yourself with new techniques as well as sharpening your skills in basic watercolor. This class will cover value, color mixing, composition, and design. Applications of Watercolor for Landscape

February 6-7 2025 9:30-4:30 with a 1 hour lunch. Whether you are an intermediate or experienced painter in watercolor there is something to gain from this two-day workshop. The first day covers textures, edges, brushwork, and color mixing. The palette will be the primary colors, Red, Blue, and Yellow. (Cadmium Red Light, Prussian Blue, and Cadmium Yellow Medium. On day two, apply what Paul has taught you by making this sunset painting. Materials are provided for an additional $15.00 payable on the first day, cash preferred paid in class to the instructor. Paint Like Bob Ross

Learn to paint like Bob Ross by a Certified Ross Instructor. Tanya teaches the wet on wet technique taught to her at the official Bob Ross workshop and gallery in New Smyrna Beach. Create a Vignette Painting with Line and Wash

March 6-7, 2025 9:30-4:30 with a 1 hour lunch. Learn how to change any painting into a vignette (“incomplete”) painting. Using a vignette design can make a dull painting into something interesting. In addition, this painting will be done in Paul’s matchstick and ink method. Line and Wash was once a popular method of creating a watercolor. Artists have used a variety of tools to create line drawings with ink prior to painting. Paul shows you how to design a vignette and explains the basic rules to follow. This earlier painting of by Paul will be used as the base idea for the vignette. The color palette will be the primaries in red, blue, and yellow. (Cadmium Red Light, Prussian Blue, and Cadmium Yellow medium.) Supplies are provided for an additional $15.00, at the beginning of the day. Plunge into Watercolor

Dates TBD. This is a make and take workshop. This course is fun for beginners or anyone who loves color and watercolor. Learn to paint a still life using bold and confident watercolor applications. Capture the form by seeing shapes not objects and using lost and found edges. Create drama with contrast. Avoid overworking the painting for fresh and vibrant paintings. Mixed Media Workshop

Virtual ZOOM Classes

MDCA partners with Arts4All Florida at USF to provide support and champion arts education and cultural experiences for and by people with disabilities. Classes are led by professional artists/art teachers, certified instructors, and disability experts. ZOOM classes are offered in visual, music, dance and movement and the performing arts to students and adults of all abilities.
